Closing the Financing Gap for Water in Line with SDG Ambitions: The Role of Blended Finance

Organized jointly by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the conference aims to discuss effective and innovative applications of blended finance, defined by OECD as “the strategic use of development finance for the mobilization of additional finance towards sustainable development in developing countries,” in the water sector.

The meeting will bring together policymakers, development practitioners, representatives from financial institutions, philanthropies and private sector actors to examine the commercial perspective on investing in water and the policy dimensions of blended finance for water. The conference will be outcome-focused and deliver effective policy recommendations to development actors.
