Climate Summit of the Americas

The Government of Ontario is hosting a Climate Summit of the Americas to: develop and deliver a common statement on commitments by subnational governments to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; develop a vision agreed by government, business and environmental leaders for climate action through GHG reductions and low-carbon market mechanisms, including broader adoption of carbon pricing; identify opportunities for collaboration that will result in reduced emissions; and facilitate continued dialogue and strengthen cooperation among subnational pan-American governments leading up to the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCCC in Paris, France. Representatives from pan-American jurisdictions, environmental groups and industry are expected to attend the Summit.
