This meeting will bring together government ministers, scientists, company heads, NGOs and public figures from over sixty countries. It will seek to take stock of the threats facing the environment, decide upon priority measures to combat those threats, and take action, at international level, to create a United Nations Environment Organization (UNEO). French President Jacques Chirac will open and close the meeting.
