CBD Workshop on Capacity-building for Effective Implementation of Cartagena Protocol (Pacific Subregion)

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop aims to: promote awareness of recent developments under the Protocol, including decisions of the meeting of the Parties, and major issues and processes underpinning the Protocol's implementation; review the status of implementation in the Pacific subregion and share experiences, best practices and lessons learned in the development and implementation of national biosafety frameworks; and identify national and sub-regional capacity building priority needs and discuss ways to address those needs, including the possibility of developing a Pacific sub-regional capacity-building programme on implementation of national biosafety frameworks. Participants are invited to confirm their attendance by 24 October 2011.
