C20 Online Consultation on Infrastructure

The C20 Infrastructure Working Group will develop recommendations for the G20 to promote growth through the sustainable and socially responsible development of infrastructure. The Working Group bases its discussion on the assumption that, for civil society, infrastructure projects must promote the sustainable use of the environment and respect local community needs and rights, among other goals. The online consultation will focus its discussion on: safeguards and protections; social infrastructure; infrastructure financing; and key civil society issues for the G20 around infrastructure. Doug Norlen, Pacific Environment, and Jacqui Phillips, Australian Council of Social Service, serve as the discussion leaders. This online consultation is one of four that the C20 is conducting to encourage a dialogue between representatives of civil society organizations and political leaders of G20 countries. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) is supporting the C20 Conversations. The C20 Conversations launched on 3 February.
