The BASD 2012 Business Day is the official UN Major Group Business & Industry event at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). It will provide a platform for interaction between business leaders and policy makers, with the theme: “Achieving Scale.” The Day will identify key actions and catalysts to drive scale, as a final input to Rio+20 and for collaborative action by the participants going forward. The Day will include: sector-oriented dialogue sessions on: Agriculture, Cement, Chemicals, Consumer Goods, Energy/Power, Forestry, Materials, Oil & Gas, Transport, or others; a High Level Luncheon; dialogues and panel discussions addressing the key themes of Rio+20 and other priority areas, including: Access to Energy, Food Security, Green Economy, Inclusive Business, Corporate Sustainability Reporting, International Governance, Policy frameworks for Sustainable Development, Technology in Sustainable Development, Urbanization, Water, and others (potential sessions include Oceans, Education/Capacity-building, Sustainable Consumption, or Green Jobs); an Evening Reception jointly hosted with the World Business and Development Awards (WBDA); and the WBDA Awards Ceremony, jointly hosted with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) and UN Development Programme (UNDP), the partners in the WBDA.
