Asia Pacific Regional Consultation on a Disability-Inclusive Development Agenda Towards 2015

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of Thailand in partnership with the Government of Australia, the World Bank and the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability, government representatives and civil society, will meet to discuss regional input to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development (HLMDD) that will take place in New York, US, on 23 September 2013. The regional consultation builds on the outcome of the high-level ministerial intergovernmental disability meeting on 29 October-1 November 2012, in Incheon, Republic of Korea. That meeting's outcome, the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific, aims to accelerate actions to promote disability-inclusive development and ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in the ESCAP region, and will serve as Asia-Pacific's regional input for the upcoming HLMDD.
