AfricaSan 3

The Third Africa Conference on Hygiene and Sanitation (AfricaSan 3), co-hosted by the Government of Rwanda and the African Minister's Council on Water (AMCOW), aims to address what is needed to ensure that Africa attains the target, by 2015, of halving the proportion of the population without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation that is set out in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Specifically, AfricaSan 3 will: address progress made on implementing the eThekwini Declaration; review country sanitation and hygiene action plans; raise the profile of sanitation and hygiene as a determinant of sustainable development; and review the progress made by African countries for achieving the relevant MDGs by 2015.
