Organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UN Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), this event is designed to offer African countries a space for sharing experiences and knowledge about how they are creating their own approaches and shaping national agendas with regard to the concept of a green economy and its implementation. Discussions will be used to inform Rio+20 debates including the Africa Day, and to help identify areas where additional support is required at the country level post-Rio +20. The event will include a series of moderated panel discussions with speakers from Member States and major stakeholders groups. The event is being webcast from Dakar.
