The African Development Bank (AfDB) will host this workshop to discuss the challenges and opportunities of implementing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 in fragile situations in Africa, within the context of the AfDB's “High-5” priority areas. Participants will also discuss: domestic policies, strategies and resources to support implementation of the SDGs, taking into account fragile situations; opportunities for peacemaking and statebuilding in West Africa, including through the African Union's (AU) peace and security architecture and regional peace-making initiatives; and mobilization of international support to post-conflict reconstruction. The workshop is expected to help the UN, AU and AfDB identify concrete actions to strengthen their partnership to implement SDG 16 in Africa at national and regional levels, with a special emphasis on West Africa. The High-5 priority areas are Light up and power Africa, Feed Africa, Integrate Africa, Industrialize Africa, and Improve the quality of life for people in Africa.
