Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this meeting is part of the intersessional process on socio-economic considerations arising from the impact of living modified organisms (LMOs) on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, as addressed by Article 26 of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The meeting will examine the outcomes of a series of online forums and regional online conferences and a compilation and review of information on socio-economic considerations. It aims to develop conceptual clarity on socio-economic considerations. The meeting report will be submitted for consideration by the seventh meeting of the Protocol's Meeting of the Parties (COP-MOP 7).
