This debate will take place between Member of Parliament Michael Meacher and Sir Colin Berry. Organized by the Scientific Alliance, the debate is designed to be an opportunity for “open and rational discussion on the application of the precautionary principle.” According to the Scientific Alliance, the debate is timely given the UK’s pending decision on the commercialization of GM crops and the UK and Europe’s “ever-increasing” use of the precautionary principle in environmental decision making.
