23-28 May 2022 Bali, Jakarta Raya, Indonesia
7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

The seventh session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction GP2022) will be held on the overall theme: From Risk to Resilience: Towards Sustainable Development for All in a COVID-19 Transformed World. Through this theme, the meeting will: consider how the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the traditional understanding of risk and disaster risk governance; and explore how the crisis can be turned into an opportunity for the radical transformation needed to achieve the goal and targets of the Sendai Framework, as well as of the 2030 Agenda.

Organized and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and hosted by the Government of Indonesia, the Global Platform takes place at a critical time: seven years from the adoption of the Sendai Framework and just over two years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed how underlying vulnerabilities and inequities have catastrophic consequences for the most exposed across the world. The 2022 Global Platform will provide a unique and timely opportunity to showcase the importance of international solidarity and cooperation, as well as to discuss ways to tackle underlying risk drivers both locally and globally.

The GP2022 agenda will be guided by: the Sendai Framework goal, priorities for action and targets; the key priorities identified at the previous Global Platform held in Geneva, Switzerland in 2019; and key priorities stemming from the Regional Platform meetings. The sessions will be organized around three main sub-themes: disaster risk governance, COVID-19 recovery, and disaster risk reduction financing; and three cross-cutting themes: Sendai Framework stocktaking, leave no one behind, and SDGs and climate action.
