The 4th World Congress of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is organized on the theme: “Imagine Society, Build Democracy”. It is expected to bring together local and regional leaders, international organizations, the public and private sectors, financial institutions and civil society from over 100 countries. The 2013 World Summit will focus on: local and regional authorities' contribution to the wellbeing of communities and their role in the post-2015 development agenda; and new challenges and useful models to answer the demands of an increasingly urban population, in preparation for Habitat III in 2016. The World Congress will take place concurrently with the 2nd Local and Regional Leaders World Summit, in which leaders will address challenges facing cities and territories, including quality of life, diversity, human investment in men and women, solidarity between territories and the urban future.
