The Fourth Global High-level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) will bring together leaders to address urgent issues in preventing and managing AMR on a global scale. The Conference, held from 15-16 November 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will be preceded by a side event day for non-state actors on 14 November.

Antimicrobials are widely used to prevent and treat infections in humans, aquaculture, livestock, and crop production. However, a number of antimicrobial treatments that once worked no longer do because microorganisms have become resistant to them. The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified AMR as one of the top ten global health threats, noting it threatens human and animal health and welfare, the environment, food and nutrition security and safety, economic development, and equity considerations.

Saudi Arabia will host the 2024 Conference. Previous Global High-level Conferences on AMR convened in the Netherlands in 2014 and 2019 and in Oman in 2022.
