The theme of the 47th session will be “Assessment of the status of implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development”. There will be a general debate on national experiences, discussion on the annual ministerial review to take place in 2014, and the future programme of work. NGO written statements may be submitted by 10 January 2014. Requests for oral statements by NGOs may be submitted by 21 March 2014. Established in 1946 and renamed in 1994, the Commission assists the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to monitor, review and assess the implementation of the Programme of Action at the national, regional and international levels.
