The 23rd Session of the Governing Council of UN HABITAT (GC 23 of the UN Human Settlements Programme) will convene from 11-15 April 2011 at UN HABITAT headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The special theme of UN HABITAT GC 23 is “Sustainable Urban Development through Expanding Access to Land, Housing, Basic Services and Infrastructure.” The discussions are expected to contribute to the upcoming 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). This session will also consider the draft work programme and budget for the biennium 2012–2013.
