20-24 November 2023 San Marino
2023 Joint Session of EFC and COFFI

The 42nd Session of the European Forestry Commission (EFC) will bring together government forest officials, representatives of international, regional, and subregional organizations that address forest-related issues, and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector. Participants will discuss forest biodiversity mainstreaming, fire management, and forest economics and markets, among other forest-related topics.

As one of six regional forestry commissions of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the Commission serves as a policy and technical forum for European countries to address the most pressing forest issues in the region and provide advice to the FAO forestry programme and forest policy. The Commission meets every two years to review progress, make recommendations, and set new agendas.

This regional meeting is one of a series of meetings that will inform the 27th Session of the FAO Committee on Forestry (COFO).

The Commission will meet alongside the 81st Session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry (COFFI).
