The 2021 WIDER Development Conference will be held on the theme “COVID-19 and development – effects and new realities for the Global South.” It aims to provide a platform for sharing knowledge on the effects of the pandemic in different regions across the Global South with the aim of connecting research and policy communities around the world to discuss how to move forward.

Organized by the UN University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), the conference will discuss: COVID-19 and extreme poverty; data gaps; COVID-19 and democracy; and recovery and the future of development post-pandemic.
