The 2012 International Peace Research Association (IPRA) Conference will focus on the theme “A better world is possible: Peace and Justice in the Globalised World”. Presentations and discussions will be structured around the IPRA’s various commissions, according to the commission’s specialization. The Ecology and Peace Commission (EPC) will devote several sessions to the theme, “From Rio (1992) to Rio+20 (2012),” and focus on topics including: sustainability transformation and sustainable peace; international environmental policy; peace and security impacts of business-as-usual policies in the 21st century; responses of various countries to the Kyoto Protocol; and other topics related to environment and peace.
