2011 IEA Ministerial and Energy Business Council Meetings

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is holding its 2011 IEA Meeting of the Governing Board at Ministerial Level. The meeting will be convened under the theme “Our Energy Future: Secure, Sustainable and Together” and will focus on IEA’s work on energy security, sustainability (economic and environmental) and engagement with non-member countries. In that vein, the event will host ministers from 28 IEA member countries and 9 partner countries, plus the EU (the partner countries are Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, and the Republic of South Africa, together with Chile and Estonia as candidates for accession). These countries represent more than two-thirds of global energy production and more than three-fourths of global demand. The Ministerial serves as an opportunity for ministers and industry leaders from all over the world to discuss major energy issues and the future of the global energy system, with 35 Executives from the IEA’s Energy Business Council taking part in the opening session, themed “Government and Industry: Co-operating to secure a better energy future.”
