Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UNFF15 Bureau initially decided to scale down or cancel the event. Subsequently, a decision was taken that the UN Forum on Forests would not hold a meeting of its fifteenth session during the 2020 session of ECOSOC and would consider proposals through a silence procedure pursuant to Council decision 2020/206.

UNFF15 was originally scheduled to take place from 4-8 May 2020 at UN Headquarters in New York, NY. 

The 15th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF 15) was scheduled to address, inter alia, implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2017-2030 (UNSPF), monitoring, assessment and reporting, and means of implementation. UNFF 15 is expected to adopt the Quadrennial Programme of Work for 2021-2024.
