The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council created the Commission on Livestock Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (CODEGALAC) in 1986 to help governments in the region to develop sector-specific policies. In 2010, FAO's Regional Conference for LAC recommended that the CODEGALAC become the Commission on Sustainable Livestock Development and focus on sustainable development issues, including adaptation to climate change. This meeting of its chapter for Mexico, Central America, Cuba and the Dominican Republic will have as its theme “Policies of Differential Support for the Sustainable Support of the Livestock Sector.” The Chapter's Technical Committee will meet 23-24 November, and its Executive Committee on 25 November.
