The 10th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT), which will meet under the theme ‘Towards Environmental Quality Improvement,' will include: keynote speeches on solid waste issues; the opportunity to share and exchange ideas; and technical field trips to e-waste and hazardous waste treatment plants. Papers are being solicited on the following topics, inter alia: hazardous waste management and sound disposal; persistent organic pollutants (POPs) waste management and disposal; mercury waste management and sound disposal; sludge management and utilization; environmental regulation and governance of contaminated sites; circular economy and urban mining; household waste recycling and treatment; comprehensive utilization of biomass; end-of-life vehicle recycling; regional and sub-regional chemicals management; energy production from waste materials; social and environmental impact on waste; and nuclear waste and environmental safety. ICWMT provides an international platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems, exchange experiences and look for innovative solutions; was initiated by the Basel Convention's Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific in 2005; and attracts representatives from governments, research institutions, universities and industries. More than 500 delegates from 32 countries participated in ICWMT9.
