The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Water Conference will focus on the theme, ‘Leveraging Intersectorality for Sustainable Water Security and Peace’.
In light of the fact that many human activities depend on water, including food production, energy generation, industry and recreation, and that water management and governance affect the health of humans and ecosystems and reflect the regional conditions of poverty, gender equality, education and cultural diversity, the conference aims to:
- discuss intersectoral approaches to the governance and management of water resources;
-
launch a Call for Action to foster intersectoral water management;
-
share good practices enabling participation, transparency and information sharing; and
-
provide evidence of the importance of interdisciplinarity and the integration of sciences to support countries in achieving the goals of water-related international agendas.
