18 January 2011: The Gabon-based non-governmental organization Conservation Justice and Gabonese authorities have conducted a major anti-poaching operation.

Thirteen ape heads, 32 ape hands (gorillas and chimpanzees), 12 leopard skins and several elephant tails were confiscated during the operation. Three dealers were arrested and will be brought to justice. Conservation Justice has been supported by the Convention on Migratory Species (UNEP/CMS), among other donors. [CMS Press Release]
