The Local2030 Coalition special event is one of a series of high-profile special events taking place on the sidelines of the 2024 UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The event will focus on the theme, ‘Unlocking Transformative Change Through the Localization of the Six SDG Transitions’.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is convening several high-profile special events to highlight the impact of key sectors of society in driving SDG implementation, including this one on opportunities for localizing the SDGs. DESA will organize this event with the Local2030 Coalition.

The event will present the first signs of change achieved by the High Impact Initiative (HII) on SDG Localization, with a focus on efforts that have a multiplier and catalytic effect of promoting transformative actions and solutions at the local level. Participants will reflect on the HII’s role in fostering multilevel governance structures, bridging sectors to address multiple territorial scales, building coherence across policies and actions, strengthening multistakeholder capacities, and enhancing collaboration and leveraging resources to finance a pipeline of local-level initiatives and avenues for inclusive participation.
