2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction

The 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) will focus on accelerating progress in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and offer an opportunity to share innovative solutions and make actionable commitments to reduce disaster risk. The 2024 Conference theme is ‘Eyes on 20230: Enhancing Ambition in Asia-Pacific to Accelerate Disaster Risk Reduction’.

The Government of the Philippines and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) will host the Conference, which will bring together governments, international, national, and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, academia, and stakeholders from Asia and the Pacific, which is the most disaster-prone region in the world. The event is the main platform in Asia and the Pacific to monitor, review, and enhance cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) 2015-2030.

The Conference will focus on three thematic pillars: practical solutions to enhance DRR financing; leaving no one behind: gender responsive and inclusive disaster risk governance; and localization and urban and rural resilience. Cross-cutting themes are science, technology, and knowledge; multistakeholder coordination and collaboration; convergence and coherence; and full private sector engagement.
