26-28 June 2023 Lusaka, Zambia
Global Conference on The Future of Resource Taxation

The Global Conference on The Future of Resource Taxation will bring together officials from ministries of mining, finance, and revenue authorities along with industry, civil society, academia, and international organizations to explore effective taxation and fiscal policies for the mining sector and global economy. Participants will take stock of domestic resource mobilization efforts related to mining revenue collection, discuss financial benefit sharing in the energy transition, and consider options to accelerate a low-carbon transition through taxation.

The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) and the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals, and Sustainable Development (IGF) will co-host the Conference with the Zambia Revenue Authority.

The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) has hosted the IGF Secretariat since 2015. The IGF is a voluntary initiative committed to leveraging mining for sustainable development to ensure negative impacts are limited and financial benefits are shared.

At the event, ATAF and IGF will launch ‘The Future of Resource Taxation Handbook’. The Handbook will present a menu of innovative fiscal measures to strengthen mining revenue collection sustainably, while helping combat climate change.
