The High-Level Session on Financing Ecosystem Restoration to launch the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration will be held on the theme: Fiscal Instruments for a Green Recovery and Restoration Finance. It aims to highlight the importance of investing in nature and restoration for long-term sustainable development and economic growth.
The High-Level Session, is organized by PROGREEN, the Global Partnership for Sustainable and Resilient Landscapes, which is a World Bank Multi-Donor Trust Fund that supports countries’ efforts to improve livelihoods while tackling declining biodiversity, loss of forests, deteriorating land fertility and increasing risks. This session will bring together stakeholders to discuss innovations in financing and fiscal incentives that have the potential to transform landscapes through restoration, improved land use practices and sustainable commodity supply chains. It will also draw attention to the impact of subsidies and unaligned fiscal policies on land use and sustainable development more broadly, and of the economic inefficiency of misaligned polices.
