Global Week for Action on NCDs
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are the first cause of death and disability in the world. They account for 70% of all deaths. NCDs are driven primarily by five modifiable risk factors – tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol, and air pollution.
The annual Global Week for Action on NCDs campaign seeks to bring attention to NCD prevention and control. The campaign theme for 2020 is: Accountability.
SDG target 3.4 calls for, by 2030, reducing by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being
