29 July 2010: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has reported that participants from seven additional countries have joined its Billion Tree Campaign, bringing the total number of countries represented to 185.

The newest participants are from: Andorra, Estonia, Equatorial Guinea, Lesotho, Libya, Tajikistan and Tuvalu. According to UNEP, the Campaign continues to generate momentum, with large-scale tree-planting activities registered in numerous countries. In Estonia, the forest department officially joined the Campaign and registered the planting of 39 million trees. In Tanzania, the African Blackwood Conservation Project registered over 3 million trees planted in an effort to conserve the tree, which is currently threatened with extinction.
