Co-facilitators Jürg Lauber, Permanent Representative of Switzerland, and Juan José Gómez Camacho, Permanent Representative of Mexico, issued a roadmap outlining a series of informal meetings to discuss modalities, timeline, possible holding of preparatory conferences and other practicalities of the preparatory process for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The negotiated compact will be presented at an intergovernmental conference on international migration in 2018. As part of the modalities process, a consultation with UN Member States and intergovernmental organizations will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 1-2 December 2016, following the circulation of an elements paper on 23 November.
