Climate Action and Sustainable Land Use in Forestry and Agriculture

This event will address the theme, 'Climate Action and Sustainable Land Use in Forestry and Agriculture: A High-Level Forum on Jurisdictional Leadership for Climate-Positive Land Use'. It is being organized to foster a shared understanding on effective approaches to realizing jurisdictional sustainability among national and subnational governments, the donor community, the private sector and civil society organizations (CSOs). Participants will explore issues related to jurisdictional programmes, including the importance of sustainable land use for achieving development, climate and inclusive growth goals, and how domestic policy priorities, corporate supply chain commitments and international support reinforce each other and accelerate the transition towards sustainable land use. This forum, which is taking place as part of Climate Week NYC, is being organized by the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020, in partnership with The Consumer Goods Forum, the Earth Innovation Institute, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Forest Trends and The Nature Conservancy. The Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 is a public-private partnership where partners take voluntary actions to reduce the tropical deforestation associated with the sourcing of commodities, such as palm oil, soy, beef, and paper and pulp.
