The 4th International Wildland Fire Conference, held in Sevilla, Spain, from 13-17 May 2007, brought together over 1500 participants from 88 countries.

Held under the auspices of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Commission, participants discussed the state-of-the-art in fire science, fire management and fire management training on all continents. Participants recommended the development of, inter alia: a global-scale international resource sharing strategy, by the international wildland fire community, to assist countries with fire management planning activities; regional fire management strategies designed for the specific needs of regions; and an international framework for fire management standards.
