FAODecember 2014: Taking advantage of the Lima Climate Conference, the Latin American Forest Communicators Network met to elaborate their work strategy.

Participants agreed to the main elements of the work strategy, including the sharing of experiences and contacts as well as the coordination of communication messages, especially with regard to the annual celebration of the International Day of Forests, the World Forestry Congresses and the ongoing discussions on the inclusion of forests in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The purpose of the Network, which is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), is to make communication a key tool in strengthening policies and actions on sustainable forest management (SFM). The network is comprised of members from government agencies and the media as well as communication and forest experts from universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
