World Bank Report Highlights Links between Water Quality and Education Level

A World Bank working paper, titled ‘Water Quality, Brawn and Education: The Rural Drinking Water Program in China,' assesses the impact of water treatment programmes on education levels and finds that the implementation of such programmes in China during the 1980s increased the average grade of education completed by 1.08 years.

Worldbanklogo.big1 October 2014: A World Bank working paper, titled ‘Water Quality, Brawn and Education: The Rural Drinking Water Program in China,’ assesses the impact of water treatment programmes on education levels and finds that the implementation of such programmes in China during the 1980s increased the average grade of education completed by 1.08 years.

The research also found that girls benefited more from water treatment than boys in education level, while boys attained more body mass than girls from treated water.
