The first session of the Preparatory Committee of the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) will consider: the Secretary-General of the Conference's progress report on the Conference preparations; progress to date in the implementation of the outcomes of Habitat II; new and emerging challenges on sustainable urban development; financing for the preparatory process and the Conference; and arrangements for the future sessions of the Preparatory Committee. Habitat III will take place in 2016, according to General Assembly Resolution 66/207.
