International workshop on National Forest Programmes – a Tool for Strengthening Science – Policy Interface in Practice

Organized by the European Forest Institute, FAO and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations, this workshop aims to improve the national science-policy interface in support of the Pan-European process by: reviewing the state-of-art and experiences on the role and contribution of science in national forest programmes (NFPs) in Europe; identifying existing and potential mechanisms through which NFPs integrate forest sciences into forest policy processes, and how key policy issues are addressed in research; elaborating further actions to strengthen science-policy interface in the context of NFPs; and identifying emerging research needs in support of NFP-processes, especially in CITs.
