BCRC Asia-Pacific Hosts Meeting on POPs in Articles

BCRC-ChinaSeptember 2013: The Basel Convention Regional Centre Asia and Pacific/Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific (BCRC Beijing/SCRCAP) and the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS) Secretariat hosted an expert meeting on ‘Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Articles and POPs Free,’ in Beijing, China, from 23-24 August 2013.

The workshop focused on raising awareness of need to eliminate and substitute POPs in articles, and allowed experts to exchange experiences in support of technology transfer to phase out POPs in articles.

The event was attended by 20 experts, including representatives of the POPs Review Committee (POPRC), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the BRS Secretariat, the International POPs Elimination Network (IPEN), and the Stockholm Convention Regional Centres in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, India, Nigeria and Spain.
