The seminar will address recent legal developments relating to the regulation of GMOs and will include practical information on existing rules and possible future changes to these. It will focus on the nature of GMOs and the scientific, economic and policy aspects of related regulations. Aspects of current national, EC and international regulations dealing with GMOs, such as their approach to risk analysis, precaution, and labelling will be examined comparatively. Stakeholder participation in GMO regulation will be addressed from differing and often conflicting perspectives. The seminar will conclude with an examination of special topical issues relevant to future developments.
