9 March 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the provisional annotated agendas for the 30th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) (FCCC/SBSTA/2009/1) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) (FCCC/SBI/2009/1), which will convene from 1-12 June 2009, in Bonn, Germany.

The SBSTA will consider, amongst other items: the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change; development and transfer of technologies; reducing emissions from deforestation in developing countries: approaches to stimulate action; methodological issues under the Convention and Protocol; emissions from fuel used for international aviation and maritime transport; and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventories. The SBI will address, inter alia: national communications from parties; the fourth review of the financial mechanism of the Convention; matters relating to Article 4, paragraphs 8 and 9 of the Convention (adverse effects and response measures); development and transfer of technologies; capacity building under the Convention and Protocol; amendment of the Kyoto Protocol in respect of procedures and mechanisms relating to compliance; budget performance for the biennium 2008-2009; and programme budget for the biennium 2010-2011.
