5 June 2012: Energy Globe has launched a global online campaign on energy efficiency and best practices, with support from the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The initiative will showcase projects on energy and sustainability in over 150 countries, as well as present online tools for energy optimization and energy savings and generation on an individual basis. Featured projects include: how aluminum cans may support livelihoods; how toxic coffee sludge may be turned into clean biofuel; how solar power brings prosperity to villagers; and how business enterprises can optimize their energy balance.

Online tools will also allow household owners to calculate household energy uses and consider options for improving energy efficiency through insulation and efficient appliances. [UNESCO Press Release] [Energy Globe Campaign Website]
