UNFCCC Publishes Australia’s Views on a Framework for Various Approaches
story highlights

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published an addendum containing Australia's views on a framework for various market and non-market based approaches to mitigation, including its views on how to ensure that the framework: achieves a net decrease or avoidance of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; avoids double counting; and delivers real, permanent, additional and verified mitigation outcomes.

29 August 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published an addendum, containing Australia’s submission on a framework for various approaches (FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/MISC.4/Add.4). This submission is additional to the 16 submissions previously received by the Secretariat and contained in document FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/MISC.4 and Adds.1-3.

Australia’s submission contains its views on a framework for various market and non-market based approaches to mitigation, including its views on how to ensure that the framework: achieves a net decrease or avoidance of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; avoids double counting; and delivers real, permanent, additional and verified mitigation outcomes. The submission highlights that such a framework could take the form of cooperation through the UNFCCC, and should build on existing arrangements and guidance.

The submissions will be considered by the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) during the second part of its 15th session. [Publication: Addendum to Submissions on Views on a Framework for Various Approaches]
