22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report of the Adaptation Fund Board (FCCC/KP/CMP/2011/6), together with an addendum containing the Review of the Interim Arrangements of the Adaptation Fund (FCCC/KP/CMP/2011/6/Add.1).

The report was prepared in response to the request by the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP) that the Adaptation Fund Board should report on its activities at each session of the COP/MOP. The report covers the period from December 2010 to September 2011 and provides information on progress made with respect to the Adaptation Fund, particularly on the implementation of tasks mandated by the COP/MOP, outlines the work undertaken by the Board during the reporting period, and recommends actions to be taken by the COP/MOP, as appropriate.

The report also contains information on decisions and actions taken by the Adaptation Fund Board, for the COP/MOP to take note of. The addendum contains the review of the interim arrangements of the Fund. The overall objective of the review was to ensure the effectiveness and adequacy of the Fund and its interim institutional arrangements, with a view to the COP/MOP adopting an appropriate decision on this matter at its seventh session. The review concluded, inter alia, that the Adaptation Fund Board Secretariat has carried out its duties and responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner since its inception. It also concluded that the interim arrangements since the beginning of operations have operated well, although it noted a number of operational improvements that could be made.
