The Executive Secretaries of the CBD the UNCCD and the UNFCCC have reported the adoption of the terms of reference and modus operandi for the Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions, which set the Group's mandate as: enhancing coordination between the three Conventions, including the exchange of relevant information; and exploring options for further cooperation between the three Conventions, including the possibility of a joint work plan and/or a workshop.
20 September 2011: The Executive Secretaries of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have reported the adoption of the terms of reference and modus operandi for the Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions.
Adopted at the Group’s meeting held on 2 September 2011, in Bonn, Germany, the proposed terms of reference and modus operandi will be sent to the Conferences of the Parties of the participating Conventions. They set the Joint Liaison Group’s mandate as: enhancing coordination between the three Conventions, including the exchange of relevant information; and exploring options for further cooperation between the three Conventions, including the possibility of a joint work plan and/or a workshop.
