Public Discussion Launched Ahead of Special Event on SDGs
story highlights

The public is invited to address three questions, via Facebook or Twitter, regarding: how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and integrate sustainable development into the post-2015 development framework; how the SDGs can integrate the three pillars of sustainable development, and how universally applicable goals can also take into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development.

October 2012: The Division for Sustainable Development, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), has launched an online public discussion on “Conceptualizing a Set of Sustainable Development Goals.” The main issues raised in the discussion will be fed into an upcoming Special Event of the UN General Assembly’s (UNGA) Second Committee.

The public is invited to address three questions: 1) How can the SDGs build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and integrate sustainable development into the post-2015 development framework?; 2) How can the SDGs integrate the three pillars of sustainable development?; and 3) How to develop universally applicable goals that at the same time take into account different national realities, capacities and levels of development?

Responses can be submitted via Facebook or Twitter. [Webpage on Special Event and Online Discussion] [DSD Website on SDGs]
