Conceptualizing a Set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This Special Event of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Second Committee will provide an initial opportunity for all Member States and other participants to engage in discussions on how to develop the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in light of the relevant terms agreed within the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) outcome document. The discussions will be moderated by Andrew Revkin and led by a panel of speakers from the fields of scientific research and policy making, who will contribute their perspectives and analyses. It is expected that this event will inform the initial discussions of the Open Working Group (OWG) on the SDGs. The Special Event will be preceded by an online discussion, with the main issues raised to be brought to the panelists.
