ITU Releases Toolkit on Environmental Sustainability for ICT Sector

The toolkit provides ICT organizations with a checklist of sustainability requirements and detailed support on how they can build sustainability into their operations and management.

The guidance, released during ITU Green Standards Week, focuses on sustainable buildings, sustainable ICT, sustainable products and services, and an assessment framework for environmental impacts of the ICT sector, inter alia.

September 2012: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has released a “Toolkit on Environmental Sustainability for the ICT Sector,” which was developed by ITU in collaboration with several organizations and information and communication technologies (ICT) companies, with the purpose of establishing environmental sustainability requirements for the ICT sector.

The report provides ICT organizations with a checklist of sustainability requirements and detailed support on how they can build sustainability into their operations and management. The toolkit focuses on sustainable buildings, sustainable ICT, sustainable products and services, end-of-life management for ICT equipment, general specifications, and an assessment framework for environmental impacts of the ICT sector.
