Second ITU Green Standards Week

This event is being organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and TechAmerica Europe, and will be hosted by Microsoft. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the importance and opportunities of using information and communication technology (ICT) standards to build a green economy. The week will include: a Forum on Greener Smarter Better Cities to be organized by ITU and the European Commission; a Forum on Boosting Smart Grids through Energy Efficient ICT to be organized by ITU; a Forum on Mapping E-Waste to Address Future Challenges to be jointly organized by ITU, the UN University (UNU) and CEDARE; a Forum on Greening the ICT Supply Chain to be jointly organized by ITU, UNU and CEDARE; a High Level Segment on Greening the Economy through ICT Standards to be jointly organized by ITU, TechAmerica Europe and Microsoft; a Forum on Environmental Sustainability for the ICT Sector to be jointly organized by ITU and ETNO; an Information and Training Session on ITU Methodologies for Environmental Impact Assessment of ICT to be organized by ITU and GeSI; and a session on Submarine Communications Networks For Climate Monitoring and Disaster Warning to be organized by ITU, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
